One storm hit Newfoundland and Labrador today, and another grew up to hit Ontario and Quebec over the weekend.
Valentine’s Day brought winter storm warnings to eastern Canada, predicting up to 45cm and 55cm of snowfall on the north coast of central, western, southern Newfoundland and Labrador.
Canada’s Gym Prime says the backend of the slow-moving system that hit Ontario and Quebec earlier this week has disrupted Newfoundland and Labrador, bringing strong winds to West Pay and Cape Breton.
Meteorologists say sea ice around the PEI protects the island from snow, but the same is not true for Cape Breton, where snow is expected to be 30-45 cm in the west.
Meanwhile, Canadian environmental meteorologist Stephen Frisfeder said another storm is rumbling towards central Canada, and is expected to bring 5-10cm of snow to southwest Ontario. .
He says the area will start snowing on Saturday morning, with weather fronts set in and sweeping eastward towards Quebec and the Atlantic Canada.
