TALHASSEE, Fla. (WFLA) – An active shooter was reported at Florida State University on Thursday.
According to university police, the reported shooters were in the student union area.
Several people are being treated for injuries at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare. Details of the extent of the injury or current condition are not provided.
Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare has issued the following statement:
“TMH is actively receiving and caring for patients related to incidents that occurred at Florida State University. At this time, details are still being rolled out and we don’t have any specific information yet. However, we want to ensure that our team is fully mobilized and ready to provide the highest level of care and support to those affected. We will provide immediate updates as soon as we seek your patience and compassion during this difficult time.”
FSU police told students to continue evacuating while officials work to clear campus. Law enforcement uses safe language to make sure they are safe to open the door.
If a suspicious shooter is taken into custody, there is no official word yet.

Tallahassee Police said the Student Reunification Point has been established at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center.
“All class and university events, including track and field events scheduled for Thursday, April 17, 2025, have been cancelled,” the university warning states. “Individuals who are not currently on the main campus should avoid coming to Tallahassee’s main campus.”
The FBI is on the ground to support local law enforcement agencies.
Nearby Florida A&M University said there is no threat to the campus.
“Our prayers are our FSU family and our state law enforcement is actively responding,” said Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. The Florida Attorney General’s Office is investigating the case.
