TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Snow has begun to fall in Florida as a cold winter storm continues to move through the South.

Florida Department of Transportation traffic cameras showed heavy snow along Interstate 10 in Escambia County, near the Alabama border.

Gov. Ron DeSantis declares state of emergency for upcoming winter weather system

Drivers were seen driving through the winter weather. Gov. Ron DeSantis says driving conditions are expected to be hazardous through Tuesday afternoon.

In anticipation of freezing conditions in North Florida, the governor declared a state of emergency for the entire state.

As for Tampa Bay, it’s not expected to be that cold, with highs expected to reach the mid-50s for the week ending Saturday.
