Lithia Orthopedic Providers Promising Quick Treatment

Litzia – Dr. Stuart Goldsmith founded the Orthopedic Surgery Group in Brandon in 1978, hoping to develop dedicated physician practices that bring quality care to underserved areas of East Hillsboro.

However, orthopedic surgeons found it difficult to find a doctor who would be willing to stay on the same journey.

After his son, Dr. Scott Goldsmith, joined the practice in 2008, the business began thriving, adding a second clinic in Brandon and one clinic in Plant City. The expansion has not stopped.

Today, the company employs 230 workers in nine clinics and a 30,000-square-foot office and surgery center in Lithia. We have experts in hands, spine, shoulders, elbows, hip and knee reconstruction, sports injuries, feet, ankles and feet.

The company currently covers a large area from Sun city centre in the south to Wesley Chapel in the north, and in the same Far East as Winter Haven. However, there are still many clinics in East Hillsboro and South Hillsboro.

“We’re now the group that Dad imagined,” Scott Goldsmith said.

The key to the company’s growth is to recruit top-class surgeons and provide care at the speed required. Fracture patients are usually seen within 24 hours, while patients waiting for other procedures can obtain an appointment within a week if they are flexible about where they are seen.

Scott Goldsmith said the company can do that because there are 13 surgeons and similar numbers of physician assistants on staff.

“Our offices can accommodate large numbers of patients,” he said. “No patients will be waiting for two hours.”

Hip and knee surgery is one of the most common procedures performed by orthopedic medical surgeons along with shoulder injuries.

The company also strives to be comprehensive. Some healthcare providers accept all types of health insurance, including Medicaid, which they refuse because of low reimbursement rates. Scott Goldsmith said staff are encouraged to treat everyone equally and with dignity.

In terms of organization, orthopedic medicine finds inspiration in the US military and recruits former service members for positions such as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer. According to Scott Goldsmith, their experience while serving the country becomes an exceptional executive.

“People from a military background add a unique organization and level of expertise. They have a unique appreciation for their work ethic,” Scott Goldsmith said.

Despite its growth, the company strives to maintain a family atmosphere. It has also become a philosophy to keep most functions in-house, including the HR department. One outsourced service is a call center.

It places premium on training so staff don’t feel like they’re being thrown into work that they’re not prepared for.

The company’s growth appears to continue plans to take over the second building in Plant City and a new clinic planned for Waterset, a master-planned community in the Apollo Beach area.

And their founder, Stuart Goldsmith, now 79, sees patients once a week, his son said.

“The family was legal in 2008 so they were able to continue doing that,” he said.

Employee comments: “We’ve grown into more companies, but we still feel that family.”

“I am grateful as an individual. My ideas are asked. I am perceived as a person, not just numbers. I am important.”

“It allows for a unique challenge to work with so many amazing people who share a common culture of helping patients feel better in pain.”
