(Nexstar) – According to the latest Forbes 400 rankings, it may be dealing with tariffs, slow job markets, difficult housing markets, and seemingly rejected prices, but the country’s wealthiest residents seem to be doing well.
In total, the 400 wealthiest people in the United States report to be worth the record $6.6 trillion, reported in Tuesday’s latest ranking. That’s an increase of $1.2 trillion from last year.
It should be worth $3.8 billion to be on the list all year. This is another record of the publication’s report. Several people did that, including Michael Jordan, who maintains a minority stake in the Charlotte Hornets, and Woody Johnson, who owns the New York Jets.

However, you need an estimated net worth of at least $129 billion to rank within the top 10. If you want to be the spot where Elon Musk holds again, at the top of the list, you’ll need a net worth of over $400 billion. According to Forbes, Mask is the first to surpass that threshold.
Behind him in the Forbes 400 is Oracle’s Larry Ellison. Oracle surpasses Mark Zuckerberg with a net worth of around $23 billion, earning the second place and the wealthiest California title.
In total, 400 California residents have landed this year among the 400 wealthy Americans. New York had 57 residents on the list, while Florida had 49 and Texas had 43.
Dozens of states had no residents on their lists: Alabama, Alaska, Delaware, Idaho, Maine, Minnesota, New Mexico, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont or West Virginia.

Compared to the 2024 list, there are five women on Forbes’ 2025 list. Two women fell outside the cutoff of their $3.8 billion net worth, and three others died, according to the report.
Alice Walton, the only daughter of Walmart founder Sam Walton, is America’s wealthiest woman with an estimated net worth of $106 billion. She is ranked as the third richest Texan, and is far ahead of the wealthy woman, Julia Koch of New York, over $20 billion.
Meanwhile, in Utah, Gale Miller was bumped from her location as the wealthiest resident by Matthew Prince, who co-founded Cloudflare.
President Donald Trump once again cut his estimated net worth by $7.3 billion, up from $4.3 billion. With his wealth increase, he pushed over 100 spots from the Forbes 400 to 201. This was followed by Janice McNair, who inherited the shares of her late husband of the Houston Texans, and Mark Walter, CEO of the investment company. Last year was Trump’s first return to the list after not making a cut in 2023.
