Yes, term limits
Why Florida Time Limits Are Not the Solution | Column, March 26th
I must honour and oppose columnist John Hill’s argument on the time limit. We say we should expand them further. The founder wanted a civic lawmaker, and George Washington lived on that principle, but today being a politician has become a full-time job.
Old enough to remember when Dempsey Baron ruled Tallahassee’s roost. Whatever Baron wanted, he got it, and it lasted for 30 years! On the local level, Hillsboro Commissioner Ken Hagan and City Council friend Charlie Miranda were there too long. Duration restriction shuffle is a hoax aimed at blocking the will of those who voted for term restriction. The power of the incumbent gives incumbent people an unfair advantage in fundraising and name recognition.
I don’t want to forever ban anyone serving in the office for over eight years, but politicians who want to run again should sit down the election cycle like Commissioner Jan Pratt did and if they do so, they will be re-instated.
At the national level, it’s even worse. Senators Dianne Feinstein and Senator Chuck Grassley turn 92 this year, third place to inherit the presidency, and are poster children for Congressional term limits.
So I say thank you for your service, leave, get a real job and let other citizens take your place.

Dei Playbook
Tampa received a $1.6 million grant for plant trees. The Federal Day Cuts Removed It | March 10th
Throughout history, all tyrannical leaders had one common main goal. It destroys diversity, equity and inclusion.
Herod the Great Caligula, Nero, Attila the Hun, Jingis Khan, Henry VIII, Bloody Mary, Vladimir Putin, Joseph Stalin and Adolf Hitler all committed the shared goal of eliminating Dei and the unimaginable atrocities.
why? “Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts!” Dei is an absolute threat to absolute power.
Neil Sedaka once meditated. “There was a time when strangers were welcome here. The music is played. They say the days were sweet and clear. It was a sweet song, and there were so many rooms that people came from anywhere.”
These lyrics promote Dei and may be banned.

The writer says that for 50 years, politicians have promised financial responsibility and have almost failed. Don’t forget that President Bill Clinton balances the federal budget and eliminates about 400,000 federal status. The department was reviewed and job removal was removed after a multi-step approval process, giving the affected employees the opportunity to reposition their lives. He was not as novel as the current administration. Why waste time reviewing employee positions and their personnel ratings? Just fire without looking into it.
The writer seems to have forgotten that behind all this “efficiency” rampage there is a real flesh and blood man. Or maybe he just doesn’t care.

Fluorides are useful
Removing fluoride from Florida water is a nut idea | Letter, March 26th
One point of the undiscussed argument in the fluoride controversy is the cost of filling the cavity. Without fluoride, the average 15-year-old child can have stuffing up to 6 years old or older. Would the average Tampa Bay family pay this fee for a cost of between $300 and $600 per filling? Is ounce prevention worth a pound of treatment?

Real abuse
Trump wants to extend trillions with tax cuts March 17th
What better example of waste, fraud and abuse than extending Trump’s tax cuts over the next decade? According to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, the proposed Republican expansion adds $4.6 trillion to the deficit and does little to help American families. Republicans, why not take a look at your own backyard first?

Check and balance
Trump increasingly asks the Supreme Court to dismiss judges | March 30th
The Enforcement Division argues that individual judges lack the power to give their awards a national effect. My memory is bad, but I can remember how conservatives repeatedly sued previous administrations. They use the old-fashioned strategy of “judge shopping” by bringing suits to a particular circuit in Texas and achieving that exact result.
The Constitution specifies under what circumstances the Supreme Court has “original jurisdiction.” In all other cases, jurisdiction is within the jurisdiction of the “lower court.” Judge Roberts argued that the appropriate response to differences in opinion over a judicial decision was due to the appeal review process.
The check and balance system works as designed, and the opposite claims are dishonest.
