That’s early, but which candidates consider a presidential candidate in 2028?
Former Vice President Kamala Harris, according to a new poll from Morning Consulting.
Several Democrats and democratic independences (36%) said they would support Harris if the 2028 Democratic presidential primary was today. Harris was followed by 10% Biden Transportation Director Pete Buttigigue.
The morning consultation listed other potential candidates, but there was only one problem. The rest will not break the double digits. 13% of potential major voters are still undecided. Minnesota Governor Tim Waltz, Harris’ 2024 running buddy, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and California Governor Gavin Newsom received only 5% support.
Harris’ agent, billionaire Mark Cuba, along with Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, won 4%. New Jersey Senator Corey Booker 3%; Three governors of Illinois, Kentucky and Michigan, as well as Sen. Amy Klobuchar from Minnesota, were the only listed names to win over 1%.
A report by Politico said former White House Chief of Staff, DCCC Chairman and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel are considering bidding. Only 1% of potential Democrat major voters supported him at this point, and 44% of Democrat voters said they had never heard of him.
Another name mentioned to run is VT Senator Bernie Sanders.
Recent polls show Democrats have the lowest approval, with only 27-29% of voters giving thumbs up to the party.
