Julio Fookie Murder suspicion fights solitary confinement, as prosecutors warn of witness threats

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – One of the men accused of the Julio Hufuo murder returned to court Thursday. This time, we focused on the conditions of solitary confinement.

However, prosecutors argue that confinement is intended to protect the witness in this case.

Polk County Councilman saves teens from years of enslavement and sexual abuse

In this case, Rashad Murphy, who is facing life or death penalty in prison, filed a request earlier this month to expeditious trial for his lawyer’s wishes and to completely dismiss his lawyer.

In court, Murphy was focused on returning to the general population.

“Mr. Murphy appears to be, and he’s obviously moving like crazy in prison,” said Hillsboro County Judge Michelle Cisco.

“He approves three hours of recreation and three hours of recreation inside.”

Marpie is accused of being one of several gunmen who killed rapper Charles Jones, known as Julio Hufou, in the Tampa hotel parking lot in late June.

Murphy is a documented gang member of the Ace Top Killers, and the Jacksonville gang rivals the six-block gang. Jones was a member of the six blocks.

“We have a reliable belief that witnesses are at risk, so communication is concerning communication to the outside world,” the prosecutor told the judge in court.

Prosecutors argued that safety concerns justify the strict conditions that tie Murphy to the ongoing gang war, but Jones’ lawyers beg for something different.

“We’re four months after the investigation. If he commits a crime, it means he threatened a witness, we’ll accus him!” Attorney Brian Gonzalez said.

Cisco said it has no authority to control what prisons do. However, she encouraged Murphy to spend 30 minutes a week talking to his family.
