John Stamos to perform at Beach Boys concert

Actor John Stamos will join the Beach Boys on stage during an upcoming concert at SeaWorld Orlando, the theme park announced.

The appearance, part of SeaWorld’s Seven Seas Food Festival Concert Series, is scheduled for March 22 at 7 p.m. at the park’s Bayside Stadium.

Stamos has played drums with the group sporadically since the early 1980s, after appearing on “General Hospital.” He appeared in the group’s video for their 1988 hit song “Kokomo.” As an actor, he gained fame for his roles as Uncle Jesse on Full House and Dr. Tony Gates on ER. Other notable television appearances include “Glee,” “The Muppets: The Haunted Mansion” and two episodes of “Palm Royale.”

Stamos is known to be a Disney fanatic, and reportedly bought Disneyland’s large entrance sign on eBay in 2000 and installed it with a big D in his backyard. At a moment when worlds collide, the video for “Kokomo” was shot at Walt Disney World’s Grand Floridian Resort.

Last week, Bruce Johnston, 81, a longtime member of the Beach Boys, said he would no longer tour with the group, but would still make special appearances, including a performance at the Hollywood Bowl to commemorate the United States’ 250th anniversary. The group’s touring schedule recently expanded to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their famous album Pet Sounds.

SeaWorld concerts are included in regular park admission. There are a limited number of reserved seats, including the front row. Prices vary by concert date, but reserved seats for Beach Boys appearances range from $99.99 to $199.99.

Concerts will be held on select nights during the festival, which runs through May 17th. Also scheduled to perform are Connor Price on March 14th, Tiffany, Bow Wow Wow and Animotion’s triple bill on March 15th, and All For One on March 21st. This year’s lineup includes Boyz II Men, Trace Adkins, Uncle Cracker, Jesse McCartney, Elvis Crespo, and more.

Other theme park concert series underway in Orlando include Garden Rocks, which is part of the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival (ending June 1), and Universal’s Mardi Gras concert, which ends March 28 (the festival runs through April 4).
