New Orleans (Nexstar) – Jacksonville Jaguars defensive lineman Arik Armstead was awarded the 2024 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award.
Armstead won the honors at the NFL Honorary Ceremony held at the Senger Theatre in New Orleans on Thursday night. The Man of the Year Award recognizes NFL players’ excellence on and off the field and celebrates those who have made a positive impact in their community.
“There are no acts that are too big and the acts are not too small, but they are a blessing in other people’s lives and we recommend seeing how it changes your life,” says Armstead. said in his acceptance speech. “Define success with new metrics. How many people do we have a positive impact on, not what we have acquired?”
Armstead is the second Jaguar player to follow in the footsteps of the 2019 award-winning Calais Campbell and receive this honor. The video at the top of this story is an interview conducted last year by Armstead as a candidate for San. Francisco 49ers.
Armstead and his wife, Melinda, lead the Armstead Academic Project, an organization dedicated to providing students from all backgrounds with the resources they need to thrive.
“For the Payton family, seeing you throughout the last few years has been extremely important. I think the true testimony of Walter’s character is what I see as his spirit lives through you to this day.” Armstead added.
Armstead’s commitment to community service and his efforts to ensure educational opportunities for all students are a major reason why he was a candidate for a five-game winning streak.
And finally, a natural victory.
