A new report from MoveBuddha, the go-to platform for planning long-distance moves, reveals that Florida’s transition patterns have been changing in 2025, highlighting a statewide restructuring as residents rethink their zip codes after the pandemic.

The moving company considered data analysis from January 1, 2025 to June 1, 2025, and found a top area with Florida moving from one part of the state to another.

Florida still has more new residents than they’re losing (1.1 inbounds per outbound), but growth flattensed, and high costs, worsening storms and rising premiums can make many even leave the central city’s trade coast and states altogether.

Key insights from the report:

Orlando is the number one destination for motoring in the state, attracting 60% more inbound movements than Jacksonville and 87% more than Tampa.

Central Florida’s leading technology and entertainment hubs are captivating

Miami to Orlando is the most popular in-state travel route of 2025, marking the transition from coast to Central Florida.

Kissimmee has the highest proportion of moves in any city in Florida.

Ocala, Village and Wesley Chapel have emerged as hot spots, attracting more inbound movement than their size than major metropolitan areas.

Hialeah is ranked last in the inbound movement, suggesting a low interest among newcomers despite being one of the state’s largest cities.

Jacksonville residents are most likely to move to their own cities, but on a per capita basis, Orlando has the “most sticky” population.

Tallahassee has the highest outflow rate in the state, losing 10 residents per 100,000 people to other Florida cities.

Hyalea is the destination with the least chance of movement between Floridos. With the lowest inbound travel requirements among Florida’s 20 largest cities, it is a city where people tend to stay rather than move, with just 1.36 movements per 100,000 residents.

These states continue as Florida leavers head towards North Carolina.
