Talahassee, Fla. (WFLA) – After weeks of barbs, Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a contract with rebellious state legislators within his party, calling for another special session to tackle immigration issues. Ta.
So how will the proposed plan affect undocumented immigrants and what should the Florida Democrats say about it?

“Every time I stand in this room, I remember that we are part of something bigger than ourselves,” said House Speaker Daniel Perez, R-Miami.
Governor DeSantis and the legislative leaders compromised and merged both immigration proposals into one.
“This is a victory for Florida and a victory for the country,” said Sen. Joe Gruters of R-Sarasota.
One bill debated with the aim of protecting state borders makes illegal entry or re-entry into Florida a state-level violation.
“If you are an illegal foreigner of a crime, you are detaining a detained request and you are a gang banger, a cartel member, a bad person, yes, you should be afraid. If you are an uninvited guest and you don’t break, you shouldn’t worry,” Gruter said.
Republican sponsors of the new bill package say the latest version is similar to the Trump Act. But even with these changes, Democrats aren’t impressed, but they are worried about immigration here in the state.
“I’m in the period of immigration and I might not be a criminal, but if I’m in this country illegally, I’m here illegally saying I’ll be deported. I don’t understand this,” said D-Tampa president Dianne Hart. “People have all the rights to fear, and they are stoned.”

“I came here thinking I was going to work on behalf of the people of Florida. You’re working for the President of the United States,” Hart said.
Gov. DeSantis says the policies just presented are things he can get behind. Lawmakers will discuss the bill in hopes of closing a special session on illegal immigration on Thursday.
