If you’re heading to the beach on Valentine’s Day weekend, look at your fingers. Igloo has issued more than a million cooler recalls following recall alerts, with 12 reports of tow handles that crush people’s fingers, fractures, tears and, in some cases, cut them.
On Thursday, popular cooler company Igloo recalled 1.06 million QT. Sold at prices ranging from $80 to $140 and sold at major national retailers such as Costco, Target, Academy, Dick’s sporting goods and Amazon.com, Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers have been added to the cooler’s towing handles, which have been “finger tips.” It poses risks of cutting and grinding,โ the US Consumer Product Safety Commission said.
Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the cooler and contact the igloo for a free replacement handle.
Listed as latitude 90 rollers and maximum latitude 90 rollers, the cooler is offered in multiple body and lid color combinations and was sold between January 2019 and January 2025. The recall includes around 47,000 coolers in Canada and 23,000 in Mexico.

How to tell when an igloo cooler was manufactured

To see if an igloo cooler is included in the recall, take a look below. According to the alert, there should be a circle engraved with an arrow pointing to the month in which the cooler was manufactured.
The two digits at the center of the circle are the last two numbers of the year. The five-digit model number is located on the original label on the sides of the cooler and on the bottom.
If the cooler is manufactured after January 2024, the cooler has not been affected and there is no need to take any further action, the company said.
While inspecting the cooler, avoid placing your finger near the pinch point of the tow handle as labeled with XS in the image below.
