Singer Dolly Parton and former Universal Orlando executive will be among newcomers to the IAAPA Hall of Fame, announced Wednesday by the Orlando-based Global Attractions Association.
Parton was already an international country music star and actress when she gained interest in Silver Dollar City attractions in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee in 1986. As part of the deal, the park was renamed Driwood.
“Her vision, investment and heart in her community helped Dollywood to grow into a world-class destination that inspires other operators around the world and creates joy for millions of guests each year,” Jakob Wahl, president and CEO of IAAPA, said in a video announcing the winners.
Keith James, who played executive roles at Universal Studios Florida in the late ’80s and early ’90s, is also recognized by the IAAPA. At one point he was Senior Vice President of Planning and Development for the Resort in 1990. He then managed production operations for Jack Louze Associates/RWS Global for 30 years.
“His creativity, leadership and commitment have influenced countless projects and experts around the world,” Waal said.

Other members of 2025 include:
•Gerard Alteaga Orninger founded Fantasylandia in Chile and expanded Happyland to Peru, Mexico and Colombia. He was one of the first three IAAPA members in Latin America. He passed away last month at the age of 81.
•Gary S. Wax, who oversaw the opening of Kings Island, Kings Dominion and Canada’s Wonderland.
• Su Zhigang, founder and chairman of Chimelong Group, an influential developer of Asian attractions.

The new winners will be officially led during the IAAPA Legend: A Hall of Fame celebration incident on November 17th ahead of the annual IAAPA Expo at the Orange County Convention Center.
