“Hero”: Good Samaritan saves a kidded child in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (WFLA) — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is grateful to a good Samaritan who rescued a child who was lured last month.

On June 27, officers answered a call saying that a young boy had been grabbed from the street. The nine-year-old was selling a bottle of water when 22-year-old Mikaya Williams tried to lure him into the car.

After he refused, Williams pulled him into the car and drove him. The JSO said that friends of the victim’s family watch the scene unfold and would follow immediately. When the vehicle stopped, a good Samaritan was able to remove the child from the vehicle and prevent the suspect from leaving.

“The JSO thank the heroic witnesses for rescued a child from a dangerous situation,” the office wrote on Facebook.

Officers arrive and arrest Williams, and the boy is safely returned to his family.

Williams has been charged with a first-degree felony temptation and is being held unconfined at the Duval County Jail, the JSO said.
