Arral Bardo Melo Samayo Aresinos, known as Lacichala (Chicada), was taken into custody after operations that include Guatemala, Mexico and the United States.
The alleged US-appointed drug trafficker and fugitive, Guatemalan, was arrested Tuesday in Mexico’s Chaipas state after a collaboration.
Arabar domelossa Mayo Aresinos, known as Lacichala (Chicada), was detained in southern Mexico on March 11th after an operation involving Guatemala, Mexico and the United States.
Jimenez said Samayoa Recino negotiated with the Mexican cartel and negotiated to exchange drugs through Guatemala on his way to the US.
In a statement released at the time, the department said that Samayoa Resinos “oversees the human trafficking business that coordinates the transport of cocaine cargo from Huetenango in Guatemala to Chaipas, Mexico.”
The department added that Samayoa Resinos is “involved in money laundering activities on behalf of Ross Fuista DTO (drug trafficking organization).”
In 2018, the District of Columbia U.S. District Court indicted Samayoa Recinos on charges related to cocaine trafficking after the DEA investigation.
Two of Mexico’s most powerful cartels, the Sinaloa Cartel and the Cartel de Jalisco Nueva Generation (CJNG), are fighting for the management of lucrative smuggling routes in southern Mexico.
“Los Huistas DTO uses Mexican organizations such as the Sinaloa Cartel and the Cartel de Jalisco Nueva Generation (CJNG) to smuggle cocaine, methamphetamine and heroin from bases in northern Guatemala to the United States,” methamphetamine for export to the United States. Cocaine, methamphetamine and heroin consumed in the US frequently tighten fentanyl, which can significantly increase the chances of overdose and death for users. ”

The Treasury also said that Los Juistas managed poppy cultivation fields in the Juetenango and San Marcos regions of Guatemala and “imported precursor chemicals from China to produce methamphetamine.”
The arrest of Samayo Recino comes as Guatemalan forces strengthen their border patrols under pressure from the White House.
Guatemalan Army spokesman Colonel Juan Ernesto Celis said one of his units patrolled such a river that formed the western edge of the Guatemala-Mexico border on Thursday.
He said the border patrol operation had been stepping up since January.
When Secretary of State Marco Rubio visited Guatemala in February, President Bernardo Arevalo announced that he would form new border guards to patrol his country’s borders with Honduras, El Salvador and Mexico’s frontiers.
Arevalo says that migration is right, but he wanted to regulate it and ordered the Army to stop illegal weapons, drugs and human trafficking.
Guatemala and Mexican governments are also strengthening their cooperation.
On Thursday, Guatemala Department of Defense spokesperson Anne Marie Argueta said the military not only wants to protect Guatemalans, but also wants to prevent “invasion of national territory through organized crime across borders.”
In July 2024, nearly 600 Mexicans fought across the border between the community’s drug cartels and fled, calling for evacuation in Guatemala.
