TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – The Florida Fish and Wildlife Committee has launched a new website for the Great Florida Bird Watching and Wildlife Trail.
The trail is 2,000 miles long and connects over 500 sites to view birds and wildlife.
One new feature is the Find Site map. This allows users to find nearby locations and filter out specific birds they want to find.
The site also provides highlights for each destination, including a short description, a park map, a list of amenities, and some species there.
FWC has also updated its trail location page. Now you can explore the parks by region and see how Florida’s natural habitats differ statewide. From the Panhandle hardwood forests, salt marsh, Cypress trees in West Florida, and the Everglades to the south, each region offers a distinctive view and natural character.
There are also sections of sites specializing in beginner resources, including birdwatching, field and trail guide basics, as well as binoculars introductions, and important information you should know before heading out on the trail.
