TALHASSEE, Fla. (WFLA) – The Florida State University Student Union resumes on Monday, less than two weeks after students fired, killing two employees and injuring several others.
In a message to university students and staff, FSU president Richard McCullough said that after the administrator consulted with the students, he chose to reopen the facility.
“Major casualty incident”: 1 death, multiple injuries in hit and run boat crash involving Clearwater Ferry
“I spoke to a large number of students in every class, and our seniors in particular expressed a strong desire for the union to be open last week at Florida State,” McCullough said.
The statement said students’ union staff and volunteers should only return to the building if they feel comfortable doing so.
“People who feel comfortable can come back when they’re ready,” McCullough said. “Everyone is healed at their own pace and feels different about being in that space.”
The Student Union will be open Mondays from 3 to 5pm. A moment of reflection will be held before the opening at 3pm
