TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Florida State University President Richard McCullough announced that classes and regular businesses will resume on campus on Monday.
“I know it doesn’t feel like a normal week,” McCullough wrote in a statement. “It was the last one before the finals and a lot of you are still handling what happened.”
The campus community claimed two lives and injured six people last Thursday after a mass shooting on campus.

“Take care of yourself,” he wrote.
McCullough said students should reach out to help if they need help and should contact instructors about the accommodation they need.
The statement was posted on Facebook, with many comments criticizing the university for asking students to come back very quickly.

“This isn’t okay. Our students, our FSU staff and our community need time to begin to handle and heal this horrifying tragedy,” wrote one commenter.
Others noted that while it may be difficult for many students and staff to return to campus, some may appreciate the opportunity to return to their normalcy and be surrounded by the Seminole community.
The FSU Finals are scheduled to start the week of April 28th, with the 2025 opening ceremony scheduled for May 2nd.
