Fox Sports is predicting a Super Bowl record average viewer for 126 million US viewers on television and streaming platforms to win Kansas City 40-22 on Sunday night.
The game was aired by Fox, Fox Deportes, and Telemundo and streamed on Tubi and the NFL digital platforms.
Fox’s forecast on Monday included early numbers from Nielsen and streaming data for the Tubi and NFL. Updated Tuesday, with more complete numbers expected.
This is the second year in a row that the Super Bowl has reached record audiences. Last year, the Chiefs’ 25-22 overtime victories over San Francisco averaged 133.7 million on CBS, Nickelodeon, Univision and streaming platforms.
According to Fox, the audience peaked at 135.7 million in the second quarter.
The early data project saw 14.5 million people on streaming platforms, including 13.6 million people on Tubi, where the game is available for free.
Part of the increase can be attributed to changes in how audiences count. This is the first year Nielsen is measuring out-of-home viewers in all states other than Hawaii and Alaska.
Previously, it was the top 44 media markets, covering 65% of the country.
The evaluation also includes Nielsen data from smart TVs, along with cable and satellite set-top boxes.
Sunday’s game was decided in the first half as Philadelphia built a 24-0 lead after closing the Super Bowl for the second year in a row.
Donald Trump and Taylor Swift were present at the Super Bowl.
Trump was the first president to attend the Super Bowl, but Swift’s chief tight end Roman Strabiskels continues to attract pop superstar fans to the NFL.
After a period when four of the five games before 2023 were short on that number due to code cuts, the Super Bowl averaged over 100 million viewers. This included 95.2 million for the 2021 Super Bowl between Tampa Bay and Kansas City. This was the lowest TV average in the game since 2007.
The NFL playoffs averaged 35.2 million viewers in the first three weeks, down 9% from last year’s 38.5 million record.
It followed the regular season with an average of 17.5 million people. It was the sixth highest average until 1995, but fell 2% from 2023.
