TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The federal ju judge has charged Bill Culpepper, 57, a former Leon County Sheriff of Havana, Florida, with multiple weapons fees, including possession of a machine gun, an unregistered firearm and silencer.
Culpepper faces one count of possession of three counts of a machine gun, three counts of an unregistered firearm or short barrel rifle, and one count of possession of an unmarked silencer. If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison at each count.
He appeared in front of Judge Martin A. Fitzpatrick of Tallahassee on September 11, 2025 for an arrest. The trial date is set on November 4th, 2025, before US Supreme Court Judge Allen C. Windsor.
The charges follow an investigation led by the Tallahassee Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Bureau, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. US lawyer Aide Eric K. Mountin is indicting the case.
Federal prosecutors stressed that the charges were merely a complaint and that Culpepper was presumed to be innocent until he was found guilty beyond reasonable doubt before the court was found.

The case is part of Take Back America, a Department of Justice initiative focusing on the dismantling of cartels and cross-border criminal organizations and fighting violent crime.
