Florida’s new CFO Blaze Ingoglia vows to tackle fraud and reduce waste

TALHASSEE, Fla. (WFLA) – Former Senator Blaze Ingoglier (R-Spring Hill) was sworn in Monday as Florida’s new chief financial officer.

“I’m not going to see anyone fight hard for taxpayers or consumers than I would,” Ingoglia said.

And while this appointment has hardly been a surprise to those invested in Florida politics, some of the new CFO’s plans will come home, particularly with plans to investigate wasteful government spending.
“One of these large local spenders who don’t look at taxes wisely will lean better as they have a new sheriff in town,” Gov. Ron DeSantis said.

On his first day at the office, Ingoglia vowed to begin an audit of local governments, confirming that state funds were not being misused.
“We will use the constitutional authority of the CFO to conduct these audits and ensure that we are spending responsibly at the local level,” Ingoglia said.

Ingoglia is stepping into his new role at a critical time for Floridians: Hurricane Season.

Political analysts warn that he must prove he is more than just a DeSantis loyalist, and that he can reach Floridians when the next storm strikes.
“If we have to deal with hurricanes in Florida, he really has to deal with them. These Trump policies are these Trump policies that divert hurricane state resources for hurricanes for other uses, such as immigration.

Political interests could rise even more in 2026

Ingoglia will serve next year, but he is not the only one looking to his seat.

State Sen. Joe Gluters, a Trump allied ally from Sarasota, has already proposed to run for the position and has received support from the president himself.

The question is, “Will Florida voters stick to DeSantis’ picks, or will President Trump’s support shape the future of this role?”
“I think loyalty really is needed in the DeSantis Governor’s home just as Trump demands loyalty at the Trump White House. So these two people lead the Republican Party not only in Florida but across the country,” Newsmom said.
