Below is an official statement from Florida Chief Financial Officer Blaze Ingoglia.
Florida fire chief Blaise Ingoglia highlighted $1.4 million in funding for the Florida fire department, ensuring they have the equipment they need to protect their community and protect themselves while they work.
“Our firefighters have the first community where they do their job every day,” said Chief Financial Officer Blaze Ingoglier. “Whether you’re fighting a home fire, responding to a medical emergency or installing a car seat safely for new parents, firefighters are the backbone of our community. On the eve of September 11th, I was proud to award $1.4 million in funds to ensure that firefighters have the equipment they need to work safely.”
“CFO Ingoglia continues to put the health and safety of firefighters first. By prioritizing cancer decontamination, we ensure Florida firefighters have the tools to protect them from work risks,” said Bernie Bernoska, a professional firefighter in Florida.
“Firemen are bringing life to protect their communities. As firefighters, we know how important it is to have decontamination equipment after responding to emergencies. We are grateful for today’s award for purchasing life-saving equipment,” said Tripbirds of the Florida Fire Chiefs Association.
The Sanford Airports Authority received $1,040,000 for the replacement of a Sanford Aircraft rescue fire truck. Gov. Ron DeSantis approved these funds in the 2025-2026 budget.
Additionally, the Ministry of Financial Services will provide funding through the Firefighter Cancer Decontamination Equipment (FCDE) grant program and the Firefighter Assistance Grant Program. FCDE Grant provides financial support to help fire departments procure equipment, supplies and education training to mitigate exposure to dangerous cancer-causing chemicals. The Firefighter Assistance Grant provides funding to improve the emergency response capabilities of volunteers and combined fire departments, and provides financial assistance to improve the safety of firefighters.
