Recent polls from related industries at the Florida (AIF) Center for Political Strategy show that most voters on both sides of the political spectrum are pulling back compensation amounts for personal injury trial lawyers.
Voters supported the lawyer’s fees in 20% of the funds awarded to plaintiffs, allowing the plaintiff to retain most of the damages they have won, reducing the incentive for lawyers to file frivolous lawsuits.
83% of Florida voters support paying out of control lawsuits with the support of a majority from GOP voters (86%), Democrats (79%) and independents (82%).
Regarding Florida’s demographic collapse, 85% of white voters, 79% of black voters, and 79% of Hispanic voters supported limiting their lawsuit payments.
Even the local community had overwhelming support. 93% in feet. Myers and Orlando 87%, Tampa 87%, Jacksonville 84%, Panhandle 80%, Miami 78% and West Palm Beach 74% supported the measure.

Among the age group, 87% of the elderly and 72% of voters under the age of 30.
Trump/Harris Support: There is also a strong majority between Trump and Harris voters. 87% of Trump voters and 80% of Harris voters have approved the measure.
Jeremy Scheftel, AIF’s vice president of political operations, says the poll reflects how Florida trial lawyers have been betting the system for so long.
“At the expense of hardworking Floridians and small businesses,[trail lawyers]are making huge payments, but clients maintain a small percentage of the damage. Florida voters overwhelmingly support common sense restrictions on payments received by personal injury lawyers. They can reduce unpredictable legal costs and the burden on consumers who step into the bill that ultimately inflated the bill,” Sheftel said.
