Jensen Beach, Fla. (WFLA) – A Florida renter has been charged with attempted murder after saying he brutally attacked a landlord and plunged an SUV into the house.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office said 69-year-old Brian Thomas Leach had invited his landlord to come downstairs for dinner Tuesday night.

When she did, investigators said, “Leach attacked her cruelly, beat her, and seriously injured her.”

A St. Pete woman was arrested almost a year after her nine months of death in a non-licensed daycare

Shortly afterwards, Leach entered his SUV and “deliberately plunged it into the structure, causing great damage,” the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post.

Deputies were called to a home in the Northeast Oceanview Circle in Jensen Beach and detained Leach, who had slashed his arm with a knife.

Leach was taken to the hospital and placed in law enforcement custody. The sheriff’s office said Leach will be booked to the Martin County Jail once released.

The landlord is also taken to the hospital to be treated for her injuries.

Deputies said the incident is being investigated as an attempted murder.
