PANA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WMBB) – A shooting that took place around 2:30am on Saturday caused a man to be charged with murder and a teenager.
According to a Bay County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, 17-year-old Braden Raul Gomez shot William Robert MacArthur in the back of his head.
MacArthur, a Lyft driver, reportedly gave Gomez a ride from the Front Beach Road business to the Woodlawn area. Gomez was in the back seat.
Investigators said Gomez confessed to the shooting and was angry at some of MacArthur’s comments.
He claims that the victim pointed out that Gomez was a drunken minor and said he would not be there, and Gomez’s mother said, “Sorry.”
At that time, Gomez allegedly pulled his gun and shot MacArthur near the intersection of Wildwood Road and Emerald Cove Street.
Authorities say Gomez said he had pulled MacArthur away from the car and tried to revive him. The car continued to roll down the road until it stopped about 100 yards.
Deputies said they found Gomez’s bloody clothes at a house near her mother.
They also said Gomez led them to a gun that was allegedly thrown a trash can with Woodlawn.
The State Attorney’s Office exempt Gomez from adult status.
He is currently under the control of the Juvenile Justice Department and is charged with unpublished murder.
