Two years ago, Florida Congress voted wisely to cope with the chronic problem of this state by passing the law that high school classes could not be started by 8:30 am. 。
This movement was quite late. Many local school districts will pick up the children at 5:30 am and take the students to the school in time for the first bell that begins to sound at around 7:15.
This is a scientifically proven bad idea. The US Pediatrics Academy and the Disease Control Prevention Center agrees that high schools will not start by 8:30 am by 8:30 am.
That is not to tell the children to sleep faster. It is a proof of the body using a teenager hormone as a fuel, and it is later than ours.
According to the survey, the starting time has improved, reducing absence, and less car accidents.
It is not so safe to ask children to be kicked out to a bus stop in the black darkness of us, known for the death of a pedestrian.
Therefore, Republican members and the Democratic Party have joined the law to pass this law, which is implemented between 2025 and 26. Except now, they talk about canceling the law.
The bill submitted by the Republican Senator Jennifer Bradley will abolish the law. why? The members are too cheap to pay the buses and drivers required to achieve it.
There is no length that some politicians in this state do not properly provide funds to education. They spend $ 100 million, $ 100 million to create a new state militia, and $ 80 million a year to promote tourism, but for the K-12 per student, Florida is the worst state in the United States. I am satisfied with ranking 10 states on a daily basis.
And why do they continue to decline our SAT score?
Bradley (Senate Bill 296) does nothing to help public education. It is simply canceling the solution -in 2023, the Senate was passed by 38-2 votes in an overwhelming and ultra -oriented way.
At that time, I offered a heartfelt praise to the GOP member who led the effort, but pointed out that it was necessary to back up the mission with the funds needed to achieve it. After all, funding is at the root of Florida’s early stage problems.
Talahasie should not give enough money to the school district to run all the buses you need. Thus, most districts have to run three different schools, then high schools, and then to elementary and junior high schools using a set of buses. In other words, a group of one group is always too heard and is being hosed.

Some Floridans are brainwashed to think that this is normal. it’s not.
Most Central Florida’s school district starts high school at around 7:15. Do you want to guess that many states in the United States have average start time?
zero. Not literally.
Most are after 8 years. Because they know it is the best for learning.
The results were immediate when Seattle school officials listened to health experts and moved the start time from 7:50 am to 8:45 am a few years ago.
And here: Florida Congressman knows this. When the GOP sponsor of the 2023 bill introduced the bill, he stated: “Science is very clear.”
He was right. What they had to do was to make the money they had a lot. Don’t take it from me. Take it from Governor Ron Desantis, who boasted that Florida was so much washed away by tax last year.
However, shortly after Desantis signed a bill that obliges the previous start time, he proposed a budget for reducing education and sought more in prison. One day, Florida politicians will see the correlation. And you’ll notice that educating people makes sense rather than trapping people.
Most people know this. Still, every time I write about this problem, I hear from a small number of people: Well, when I was a kid, I got up at 5 o’clock every morning, and it worked.
Congratulations. Share an anecdote. It is as valuable as an opinion. And it does not change science. Some mothers smoked when they became pregnant. Do you think smoking during pregnancy is a good idea?
When I was a teenager, I woke up at 4:45 to attend swimming practice every morning and went well with both. However, the fact that it still discovered that, in effect, in effect all the research, in fact all research by doctors, researchers, psychologists, and educators, was doing better at school later. Another anecdote that does nothing to change. (If you are still suspicious, try Google. “What is science about high school start time?”)
The most angry thing about this long -term discussion is that most Florida leaders already know this. That’s why they passed the 2023 law in the first place. But here we are discussing the same old topics again.
Hopefully, Desantis and other influential members argue that the laws of 2023 are standing in their position, and then put money in the place where they have a mouth. Florida comes out of the dark era because it is a past time.
