BOURUSIA COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is warning Floridians and visitors to stay away from the water as tropical storms Imelda and Hurricane Humbert bring dangerous beach and boat conditions.
Tropical storm warnings are in effect until Tuesday morning, with a small craft advisory available from 5am to 4am on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

“It’s not a good time to be in the water. The offshore storm won’t improve conditions,” Sheriff Mike Chitwood said in a Facebook post.
Sheriff Chitwood said an out-of-state man owned on Saturday after he was drawn into the sea and unable to retrieve it.
High surf advisory and high RIP current risk are effective in coastal counties Volusia, Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie and Martin counties.
“The RIP flow is strong, the beach flags are red and Volusia County LifeGuards have been rescued hundreds of times over the past few days,” Sheriff Chitwood said.
