TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A new study looked at all 50 states to analyze the safest places to live. Not only was Florida not ranked among the top choices, it was ranked fourth as the least safe place to live.
This study by WalletHub used 52 key safety indicators and grouped them into five categories to determine each state’s ranking. These measures range from per capita attacks to economic losses from climate disasters, including economic factors such as unemployment.
Overall, Florida ranked 47th. Considering a ranking system where 1 is safest and 25 is average, Florida ranks 21st in murders, manslaughter and assaults per capita.
When considering per capita losses from climate disasters, Florida ranks 45th, and when looking at the percentage of the population that is uninsured, Florida ranks 47th.
According to the study, the safest state to live in was Vermont.
