PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKRG) – Florida Attorney General James Usmeyer sent a letter to the Pensacola City Council over a drag show at the Saenger Theater two days before Christmas.
Usmayer says “Drag Queen Christmas” pokes fun at a holiday that is sacred to Christians.

“This is said to be part of a ‘prank tour’ in which men posing as women claim to put ‘ho-ho-ho’ into the holiday season,” the letter said.
The letter cites the city’s contract with management company Legend Global, saying the city has the right to cancel the event for a variety of reasons.
However, city officials said they do not believe the event is a danger to the public.
“The First Amendment guarantees freedom of expression, but it does not require the city to endorse or support content that is offensive or obscene and defames the religious beliefs of its residents,” Usmayer said.
