Sunrise, Fla. — The National Hockey League today announced that Florida Panthers captain Alexander Barkov has been nominated as the winner of both the 2025 Frank J. Barkov is the first player in NHL history to win both the Serke Trophy and the King Clan Seat Lophy in the same NHL season, and will be taking part in Patrice Bergeron, Ron Francis and Dave Pauline to win both awards at every point in his career. The 29-year-old Barkov led Florida with 51 assists and 34 takeouts, generating the club’s second-most points (71) in 2024-25. His 56.5% showdown win rate is ninth in the NHLERS, who has tied at least 1,000 this season, and has recorded a win rate of over 50% in his eight-game winning campaign.
With 5-5 play this season, Barkov recorded a shot attempt rate of 59.3%, ranking fourth among the NHL forwards who played at least 50 games. He averaged a 1:31 speed on ice per game and a 15:28 strength TOI per game. Barkov has recorded four short mand points (1-3-4) with his career high (5 in 2017-18 and 2021-22).
Barkov is the first Florida Panthers player to win the King Clancy Memorial Trophy and will be taking part in Peckarin (2021) and Sakukoib (2007) as the third Finnish-born player.
The 6-foot-3, 214-pound native in Tampere, Finland, has partnered with Geordy Maggio Children’s Hospital for each NHL season since 2019, donating $1,600 per goal and $800 to all assists they produce throughout the regular season and playoffs. Since launching the #barkovscores4joed campaign, he has donated more than $420,000 to hospitals. Barkov’s financial contribution to the hospital has helped to expand resources and research opportunities, support programs for patients and their families, and access innovative technologies. Additionally, Barkov will purchase and donate the annual suite at Amerant Bank Arena, hosting patients, families, doctors, nurses and staff at Panthers’ home games throughout the season.
Each NHL team has nominated players for King Clan Seat Lophy. The winners were selected by a selection committee consisting of chairman Gary Bettman and former winners of the King Clancy Memorial Trophy and the historic NHL Foundation Player Award.
