MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) — Many people wonder how this will affect national parks, especially Florida, due to many recent federal budget cuts.
According to Wesh, enthusiastic nature lovers have expressed concerns about the preservation of popular parks across the state and the wildlife that they live in.
The impact of federal cuts in places like the Everglades has already been prominent in the National Park Rangers Association. At least 12 people have been fired in only three different national parks.
Of those affected, those laid off said employees at Everglades National Park, Cypress National Reserve and Biscayne National Park.
Staff cuts may result in changes in parking times, fewer educational opportunities, and longer waiting times.
Noah Greenwald, executive director of the endangered biodiversity species, told reporters that Crystal River National Shelter in Tampa has lost about a quarter of its staff.
He also expressed concern about what this means for a species that is already heading for extinction, and the risk of danger for visitors to implement safety protocols by fewer staff.
