TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Florida Department of Law Enforcement arrested a member of Tren de Aragua for the first time under alien enemy law earlier this week.

Donald Trump evoked wartime laws last weekend ahead of the deportation of hundreds of suspicious members of Venezuelan gangs.

What does alien enemy laws call for were called to speed up deportation?

Franklin Jose Zimenez Bracho was arrested Thursday, and law enforcement officials said he was being asked to traffic, smuggle and was part of another ongoing investigation.

In a Facebook post, Fdle said the arrest was a joint effort between the Homeland Security Investigation, Florida Highway Patrol, ICE and the FBI.

Ice’s acting director Todd Lyons discussed the arrest during a press conference in Orlando on Friday.

“Tren de Aragua is a dangerous foreign terrorist organization that has invaded our soil,” he said.

The Lions also said that in the last 48 hours alone, 68 members of Tren de Aragua have been arrested in the United States.

Governor DeSantis speaks about immigration in New College, Florida

Speaking on Roundtable earlier this week about illegal immigration, Gov. Ron Desantis praised the arrest in X.

“One more, Florida will lead,” he wrote.
