WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) — A recently hired Florida man shot and killed two co-workers last week, killing one, according to an affidavit.

On January 17, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office responded to Coastal Metal, located at 9040 Belvedere Road, after a 911 caller reported the gunman was a new employee who had shot a co-worker.

Colby Daniel Edwards, 21, of West Palm Beach, was found pinned down by another employee inside a welding station inside the warehouse.

One victim was found shot in the head, and the second victim was found shot in the left shoulder. The two were taken to a nearby hospital, where the man, who suffered a gunshot wound to the head, died.

After the deputies handcuffed Edwards, he asked if the blood on him was “his, mine, or his.” According to the affidavit, while in the patrol car, Edwards yelled out the window: “Tell Pops I’m sorry. Did anyone else get hit besides Pops? An older man, a gentleman? ” he is said to have shouted.

The victim, who was shot in the shoulder, was the man Edwards was referring to as “Pop,” according to the affidavit.

A supervisor at the warehouse told detectives that Edwards was hired as an assistant to the victim who was shot in the head on Dec. 16.

The supervisor said he heard gunshots the morning of the incident and saw Edwards standing over the victim with a gun, attempting to reload the gun. Another witness said he heard four loud bangs and saw Edwards fire the gun multiple times as the victim lay on the ground.

Edwards was arrested on charges of first-degree murder with a firearm and aggravated assault with a firearm.
