Mammoth Hot Springs, Wyoming. (WFLA) – The Cape Coral man was challenged by Bison in Yellowstone National Park on Sunday.
According to the National Park Service, the 47-year-old man from Cape Coral was provoked by Bison after getting too close to the animal in the park’s Lake Village area around 3:15pm.
The man suffered minor injuries and was treated.
The National Park Service said this was the first incident in 2025 for someone injured by bison.
“The wildlife in Yellowstone is wild and can be dangerous,” the National Park Service said.
Visitors are asked to stay at least 25 yards away from bison, elk, sheep, deer, moose and coyotes, and be at least 100 yards away from bears and wolves.
Bison injured more people in Yellowstone than any other animal, the National Park Service said.
Two incidents reported in 2024, one reported in 2023.
The incident is under investigation.
