PORT STA FL (WFLA) – A 64-year-old Port St. Lucy man was arrested Sunday after police said he pulled a gun at another customer waiting for a Publix parking lot.
According to a report by NBC affiliate WPTV, the incident unfolded around 2:20pm on Publix, the traditional Southwest Village Center Drive.
One death, three injured in Tampa quadruple shooting
Port St. Lucie police said several customers were waiting for parking spaces that were open at the time. According to an arrest affidavit obtained by WPTV, the suspect, later identified as Adam Falek, ran in line to the back of one of the cars and began to repeatedly ring his horns.
“The individual thought he was going to go through the Publix car park and bully,” police wrote in a social media post. “Little of him knew the incident was captured on Publix security cameras.”
Surveillance video showed the victim leaving his car and walking to Fareck’s car. The victim then asked Farek to stop ringing his horns. That’s when authorities said Farek pulled out the gun in that range.
According to the affidavit, Farek cried out “vulgar” comments when the victim returned to his car. The victim called 911 and took a photo of the suspect’s license plate.
Police said Farek tried to leave the area but was stopped by officers and taken into custody.
He was charged with one count of assault aggravated with a deadly weapon without trying to kill him.
