Ocala, Fla. (WFLA) – A Florida man shot in the chest believes in a cross necklace to save his life.
Aidan Perry, 20, told NBC affiliate that his friend was accidentally fired after showing off his gun.

The bullet leapt from the golden necklace and stayed in the fat tissue of his breast. The doctor said the necklace saved his life as it took up a large portion of the bullet’s strength and slowed down enough to prevent it from getting into his chest.
If he hadn’t worn the necklace, the doctor said the bullet could have stabbed him in his lungs and heart.
“I see it as a lifesaver,” Perry told Wesi. “I’m probably not talking to you guys right now.”

Perry’s father, Aaron Perry, gave him a necklace last year as a Christmas gift.
“So many emotions,” Aaron Perry told Wesi. “I don’t want to say it’s just a gift, but it came from the heart.”
Perry believes that the necklace will save his life is the result of divine intervention.
“I think God played a big role in this,” Aidan Perry told Wesi. “I think he’s the reason I’m still here today.”
