Florida man charged in Capitol riot arrested again, day after Trump pardons

A Florida man facing criminal charges for assaulting a police officer during the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol has been remanded in custody, just one day after being pardoned by President Donald Trump. did.

Daniel Charles Ball, 39, was arrested Wednesday on gun charges, according to Spectrum Bay News 9 in Tampa. Ball was reportedly accused of actions during the Capitol riot, including injuring a police officer with an explosive device, when President Trump pardoned more than 1,500 convicts involved in ransacking the building. He is said to have been in Washington, D.C., awaiting trial.

Following President Trump’s pardon, an arrest warrant filed in the Middle District of Florida calls for Ball to be arrested as a “twice-convicted felon” from Homosassa.

Law enforcement officers injured by Trump supporters on January 6 expressed anger at the release of their attackers.

President Trump called the Jan. 6 prisoners “hostages” and criticized law enforcement for defending elected officials inside the Capitol that day.
