AUGUSTINE, Fla. (WFLA) – The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday that a driver was pursued and arrested after allegedly pointing a firearm at a woman and threatening her.
According to SJSO, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop of a suspicious vehicle after a citizen reported an altercation with the driver.
“A woman came up to me and advised me that a man in the car in front of her had put a gun to her head,” the officer said over the radio.
According to SJSO, the driver, David Jordan Lucas, was fleeing from officers when he collided with several vehicles before coming to a stop near an intersection.
The deputy ordered Lucas to “crawl out” of the vehicle from the passenger side, according to body camera footage.
“Everyone says I have a gun,” Lucas said. “I don’t want to make you shoot.”
Officers searched the vehicle and found a pistol and a rifle, SJSO said.
Lucas was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated fleeing and evading law enforcement, possession of a deadly weapon, violation of probation and hit-and-run, SJSO said.
