Orange Park, Fla. (WFLA) – A Florida man has been accused of beating a girl with a wire and forcing his children to kill a teacup pig.
Glenbird, 35, of Orange Park, was arrested on February 15th for abuse that occurred in October and November 2024, court records say.

The arrest warrant obtained by Action News Jax said Byrd attacked a girl with a “cable with the hair dryer cable removed” after getting mad at the spilled tip on the kitchen table. The victim told authorities that she and her brother had dumped the juice and used a hammer to crush the glass table.
On Byrd’s arrest warrant, authorities said the child’s physical injuries and testimony were sufficient to accus him of child abuse.
The second warrant from October 2024 said there was substantial evidence to prove that Bird “encouraged and coordinated” the killing of pet pigs.

Action News Jax reported that Byrd encouraged children to “attack the family’s pet pig with a hammer until they stopped moving.”
After the pig died, Bird allegedly told his 17-year-old son-in-law to dump the teacup pig in a nearby holding pond. The teenager said Bird wanted to die and pet, but he wanted the child to do it for him, the report said.
The affidavit showed that Bird was ordered not to contact the child or possess a pet.
Byrd was arrested on charges of child abuse for aggravating animal cruelty, which involves major physical harm and excessive pain and death.
