Volsia County, Fla. (WFLA) – A Florida man whose nursing license has been revoked has been arrested after applying for multiple nursing positions in central Florida, the Volsia Sheriff’s Office said.
Joseph Kinney, 55, was arrested by detectives on Monday when he showed up for a job interview to get a job as a nurse.
According to the agent, Kinney revoked his license in 2022 and applied for the position using the identity of another person.
The investigation began when nurse employment managers contacted VSO about suspicious applications. The detective then set up a job interview Monday afternoon, pretending to be Kinney’s employment coordinator.
Lawmakers said Kinney, who lives in Lake Mary, applied for 10 to 15 nursing positions using the same fake ID and nursing license.
Kinney was hired in two positions in Seminole and Orange counties, each working for less than a week, the VSO said.
Research shows Kinney previously had nursing licenses in Alabama, California and Florida, and was disciplined about repeated cases of diverting drugs from his employer, driving under the influence of drugs, providing false information, and repeating professional conduct.
Kinney was charged with practicing two counts of healthcare without a license.
