Florida home sellers waiting more than 100 days to complete sale

The latest 2025 data on home sales shows that people selling homes in Florida are waiting much longer to complete a sale.

Real estate firm Zillow ranks Florida’s housing market as the third slowest in the country.

Zillow analyzed the average time it takes for an offer to be accepted, or “days to hold,” and the average number of days it takes for a sale to close, or “days to close.” Researchers calculated the average time it took for a listing to close after it was received, and ranked each state by the longest number of days.

Dave Sharon, a replacement window expert and president of Universal Window Direct in Syracuse ( https://www.universalwindowssyracuse.com/entry-doors-syracuse-ny ), says the national housing market continues to slow, with homes not selling and becoming increasingly unaffordable.

“There are many reasons for this. It has even been reported that the tariffs have made it more difficult to get goods and transactions with UBS, which could make the average family home $7,885 more expensive. It has also been reported that common day-to-day expenses continue to rise, making it difficult to save for a down payment,” Sharon said.

Sharon advises sellers to focus on the quality of the home, investing in making it look perfect inside and out.

He says it doesn’t have to be expensive, but taking the time to fix small defects can go a long way in motivating buyers to make offers.

“For example, you can start with your front door or garden deck and replace, repair or upgrade these. Even if they don’t seem like what you need, in today’s market it can be the difference between winning and losing for a buyer,” he said.

As the housing market continues to slump across the United States, Texas has come out on top.
