TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed the law to many changes that directly affect the state’s undocumented immigration.
The change comes after a controversial special session of the Florida Legislature.
Desantis says the change will make the condition safer.

“I think that would mean cities will be safer. Just having these policies would prevent illegals from coming to Florida from the start,” DeSantis said.
The change denies bail and raises penalties for undocumented immigrants who commit crimes in Florida. The new law also places the death penalty on undocumented immigrants convicted of capital offences such as murder and sexual abuse of minors under the age of 12.
Tampa Attorney Lisette Sanchez specializes in immigration law and says change is unfairly targeting one segment of society.
“I think this is outrageous because immigrants who should be the same under the eyes of the law and should be treated the same as others could have a bigger penalty. Because it means coming to court in circumstances,โ Sanchez said.
Further changes to Florida law affecting immigration are expected during regular sessions of the Florida Legislature.
