Lehi Acre, Fla. (WFLA) – A South Florida family lamentes the loss of 3-year-old Rottweiler who was killed in a hit-and-run crash Monday morning, according to a report by NBC affiliate WBBH .
The crouse collision occurred when he speeds up Zelda Avenue and Sunset Road in Lehi Acres, attacking his family’s dog, Roxy.
Police searching for a “dangerous driver” who plunged into a patrol vehicle, attacked a woman before fleeing.
The family told WBBH that Roxy had escaped from her fenced garden with a Chihuahua earlier that morning.
Surveillance video from a nearby home captured a van that had attacked the dog “with such force” when a neighbor heard the shock. The van reportedly did not stop.
“My stomach fell,” resident Brett Rosenberg, who captured the moment in the video, told WBBH.
“I heard that from inside my house,” another resident said. “The doors were open, there was nothing. I’ve heard of the effects. That was a bad thing.”
The family had to retrieve Roxy’s artefact from the middle of the road, according to the report.
Roxy’s owner, Vicente Solia Peñaroza, told the exit after birth, and said the three-year-old dog was the daughter of two other Rottweilers he owned.

“I’ve never seen the video and I don’t want to see it,” Penaroza told WBBH. “It’s too much.”
The owner describes the emotions as overwhelming and explains that watching surveillance video is unbearable. According to neighbors, the family has been in tears since crashing.
“It was an animal this time,” he added. “God forbids. Maybe the next time you’ll be a child.”
WBBH said the Lee County Sheriff’s Office animal cruelty squad is investigating the incident. The agent is still looking for a driver of the van and vehicle.
