Talahassee, Fla. (WFLA) – Summer is almost over. Starting this Friday, Floridians can save a lot of money on items like backpacks, computers, shoes and more.
There’s a twist on sales tax holidays this year. Guaranteed every August.
“We’ve officially planted the flag and said it’s important and it’s important enough to make it permanent,” said House Speaker Danny Perez (R-Miami).

Now, every August, Florida families and teachers can take advantage of a sales tax holiday that goes back to school with repeated return.
“From August 1st to the end of August, Floridians can save money on important school supplies,” Gov. Ron DeSantis said.
For tax holidays, clothing and footwear are on sale for under $100, school supplies such as notebooks, pens and binders are under $50, learning AIDS like interactive workbooks, learning AIDS for under $30, and technology like computers and headphones is under $1,500.

“The state retailers can prepare it and make sure they have all the ducks in a row. What we said to families in Florida, especially with school-age children, is when they go to school next year.
Floridians can’t save just by returning to school. This year, state lawmakers passed many sales tax leave in the state budget. There will be a permanent disaster prevention tax credit and a second revised holiday to look forward to in the fall.
“Given the fact that it’s not just two weeks anymore, it’s an entire month and huge for parents who are constantly busy with their daily work. Now there’s the flexibility to spend another two weeks getting the tools their kids need.
