TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – In President Penn’s stroke, President Donald Trump has issued an executive order that bans and forces the purchase in federal buildings and facilities.
Executive Orders do not affect state or local laws on paper or plastic straws. But it is clear that the president doesn’t like paper straws.
“Sometimes, they break, they explode. If something hot doesn’t last too long, it won’t last as long as a few minutes,” the president said he signed the order.
He’s not the only one who doesn’t like paper straw.
“Paper or plastic straws? Plastic. Why? Did the texture make you feel better,” Sam Medina said when asked about the straw.
However, environmental groups say plastic straws are bad for marine creatures and people.
“Plastic straws are definitely a big problem for our oceans and coasts, as the plastic breaks down into microplastics, can enter wildlife and ultimately enter the human body,” Florida said. The director and JP Brooker said. Ocean Conservancy.
He says plastic straws often appear on Florida beaches.
“These are one of the top items Ocean Conservancy finds during its annual international coastal cleanup. Florida is the top of the list of plastic straws in the US. 16,000 straws a day will take Florida beaches. We’re cleaning, so yeah, they’re definitely a big problem and that plastic gets into the environment and stays there,โ Brooker said.
Dr. Devi Luke is Vice President of Conservation at the Florida Aquarium. She says that plastic straws and all one-legged plastic are bad for sea turtles and other marine creatures.
“We’re always looking at it. At the Aquarium in Florida, there’s a sea turtle rehabilitation center, and it has the effect of plastic, whether it’s plastic entanglement or ingestion,” Dr. Luke said. Ta.
She says Florida aquariums are very aware of the issue and are issuing a ban on single-use plastics at facilities.
“Our partners, restaurants and gift shops have eliminated single-use plastics, and we don’t even provide water in a single-use plastic bottle,” Luke said.
Currently, eight states ban plastic straws, but Florida is not one of them.
