Orange County, Fla. (WFLA) – A new law aimed at cracking down on drivers who require extreme speeds is already in effect in the state.
Just minutes after the new “Super Speeder” law went into effect, Orange County lawmakers said they had stopped drivers over 100 mph.

“You were doing a 104 behind me,” the aide told the driver. “At three minutes ago, going above 100 mph per hour in Florida is now an arrestable crime.
Deputies did not say whether the driver was arrested or not, and did not disclose his name.
According to the new law, first violations can land a driver in prison for up to 30 days and be fined up to $500. Drivers with repeated crimes can go behind the bar for up to 90 days and be fined up to $1,000.
“Don’t go over 100 mph, or take you to jail,” Sheriff John Mina said. “We’ll handcuff you, and we’ll take you to prison. And no one wants it, so just take it slowly. It’s your safety and ours.”
