BOURUSIA COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – A man was arrested Saturday after a Volusia County lawmaker said he pointed a gun at another driver in a road rage incident on Interstate 4 4.
The 911 caller reported that passengers in the black Acura sedan set up the sunroof of the car and pointed a handgun at his car.
The sheriff’s office said the two vehicles were involved in a close collision on I-4, westbound near Daytona Beach, “stimulating exchanges of cries and gestures.”
When deputies arrived at the scene, they said the passengers had no identification.
He told his agent that his name was Wilton Vargas Jr., indicating that he had crossed the US-Mexican border and entered the United States from the Dominican Republic about six years ago.
He was later identified as 25-year-old Winnerson Emiliano Vaes Vasquez.
Vasquez was taken to the Volsia County Jail for deadly weapons, inappropriate display of weapons, possession of marijuana and attacks exacerbated by obstruction.
Deputies contacted the HSI and the Border Patrol regarding Vazquez’s arrest. An ice detainer was placed on him in the prison.
