STARK, Fla. — A Skyal murderer once scrutinized the Spanti Alkiller for possible links to the OJ Simpson case, which riveted the country in the 1990s, was executed in Florida Thursday for the murder of a woman who died in a room at a Tampa Motel.
Glenn Rogers, 62, was declared deadly injected at a Florida prison near Stark and died at 6:16pm, authorities said. He was convicted in Florida in 1995 of the murder of Tina Marie Cribbs, a 34-year-old mother whom he met at a bar.
He also handed out another death sentence in California for the 1995 stranglehold murder. The murder came weeks before Cribs’ murder. Rogers was stopped after a highway pursuit in Kentucky while driving Cribs’ car shortly after her death.
In a final statement, Rogers thanked his wife. He thanked his wife. He also said somewhat inexplicably, “Your questions will not be answered in the near future.” He also said, “President Trump, I’m continuing to make America great. I’m ready to go.” The lethal injection then began and he lay quietly through the procedure.
The entire run took just 16 minutes. Once that began, Rogers barely moved. At one point, the staff grabbed him by his shoulder, shaking him, screaming “Rogers, Rogers,” to see if he was conscious. The family of the Florida victim did not speak to the press later.
Rogers was appointed as a suspect, but was never convicted of several other murders across the country. He later engraved the statement, but was the subject of a documentary that included what was called 2012’s “My Brother The Serial Killer.”
The documentary raised questions about whether she may have been responsible for the stab wounds of Simpson’s ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson in 1994 and her friend Ron Goldman.
In a 1995 murder trial that attracted intense media attention, former football star and celebrity Simpson was acquitted from all charges. Los Angeles police and prosecutors later said they didn’t think Rogers was involved in the murders of Simpson and Goldman after the documentary was released.
“We know who killed Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. There’s no reason to believe Rogers is involved,” Los Angeles police said in a statement at the time.
Simpson always publicly declared himself not guilty, but later took responsibility for his death in another civil case and later served nine years in prison on unrelated charges. Simpson, 76, passed away in April 2024 after battling cancer.
Rogers, originally from Hamilton, Ohio, was also labelled “Casanova Killer” or “Cross-Country Killer” in various media reports. Some of his suspected female victims had characteristics like age in their 30s, petite frames and red hair.
The U.S. Supreme Court declined Rogers’ final appeal on Wednesday without comment.
Rogers’ attorneys filed several failed appeals in state and federal courts. One argument was that newly enacted state laws allowing death penalty for trafficking of young children reveal that the abuse he suffered as a child is now being taken seriously and should be a life sentence for Rogers. The argument was rejected.
Florida uses a three-drug cocktail for a lethal injection. According to the Corrections Department, it is a sedative, paralytic, and heart-stopping drug.
Rogers became Florida’s fifth inmate this year.
Anthony Wainwright, the next Florida prisoner scheduled for execution on June 10th, under a death warrant signed by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis. Wainwright, 54, was convicted in 1994 of luring a woman from the parking lot of a Lake City supermarket, raping her and killing her.
