st. Lucy County, Fla. (WFLA) – Florida caregivers are accused of stealing the 75-year-old woman’s car and using the victim’s credit card to pay for SPA treatment.
The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office said 28-year-old Sarah gained the trust of a 75-year-old woman by inserting the life of the victim as a caregiver.
According to the arrest affidavit, the victim said he gave work access to credit cards to buy food and groceries. The 75-year-old said she has previously allowed her to use her car to run her groceries and also allowed victims to travel back and forth with the appointment of doctors.
On February 14th, while the victim was in the hospital, work had her signature documents to grant her access to her credit card.
The victim told deputies that work was to deliver food to the victim before 8pm but did not arrive. However, the victim said he learned that he had been violated with a credit card at Miami Spa.
On February 15th, the victim texts the following with the text, “Stop using my car and return it to my house today or press the fee.” She also told her deputies to list the Mercedes-Benz E-Class as stolen.
The next day, the aide drove at his workplace and found the victim’s car in the driveway.
According to the affidavit, officers at the Port St. Lucie Police Station later placed a traffic stop in a stolen vehicle. The work was taken into custody and transported to the St. Lucie County Jail.
On Wednesday, March 19, detectives from the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at their Works home.

The work was charged with fraud, fraudulent use of credit cards, and personal identification criminal use schemes.
“Fraud and elder abuse are crimes that not only violate the law, but also betray the trust of our most vulnerable citizens. We will continue to take a strong attitude towards those who exploit and hurt others for their personal benefits,” Sheriff Richard del Toro said.
